Requirements for the swimmer badge:
Swim 50 yards (45.78 metres) wearing clothes (at least a shirt and dhoti or trousers) and undress in the water without lifting your feet from the ground.
Swim 91.4 meters (103 yards) breaststroke and 45.70 meters (50 yards) backstroke with hands clasped in front of your body.
Dive from a height of at least 1.5 meters (5 feet) and retrieve small objects from the ground.
Explain how to prevent and respond to muscle cramps, what safety precautions to take when visiting unfamiliar swimming and bathing areas, and what buddy system to use when swimming in large groups.
Demonstrate that you can teach a non-swimmer the basics of swimming in a way that satisfies the examiner.
