This course will teach you all the basics and some more advanced WordPress development materials! In this video, we'll learn where to start on our WordPress journey. This is something I wish I had known earlier in my programming journey, and that is the ability to install as many WordPress sites as we want for free. WordPress is a free program that everyone has access to. As long as you have a server and database and WordPress, we can run a fresh install of WordPress. Here, we'll learn about a free tool, Local by Flywheel, that will help us quickly set up a local environment. Once our local environment is set up, we'll be free to play and learn with WordPress. Once we've done that, we can continue down the path. Next, we'll learn about the language used to build and run WordPress, PHP. Learning PHP is crucial to becoming a WordPress developer. We will go through the basics and give you all the information you need to slowly understand how programming works. Once we know the basics of the language and some of its capabilities, we will move on to creating our own theme. We will also cover more advanced topics like plugin development in WordPress.
