This week, Stan Muller teaches you the basics of copyright law in the United States. Copyright law is territorial, so we'll look at the system we know the most about, and that's the U.S. Stan will talk about what kinds of ideas can be copyrighted, who can get a copyright, and what protections copyright provides. We'll also talk about the ever-controversial and seemingly ever-lengthening term of copyright. Stan will also teach you about the low bar for creativity, meaning that original works don't have to be particularly original, and he'll also touch on the problems with copyright in the modern world.
