Art Battle is a live painting competition held in nearly every major city in Canada. Each competition pits 12 artists against each other for the evening's grand prize and a chance to compete in the national championship. The artists have 20 minutes to paint what inspires them using acrylic paints, and as they work, visitors stand around the easels and observe their process.

At the end of each round, the audience votes for their favorite painting and bids in a silent auction for the piece they want to take home. All proceeds from the evening's paintings are split between the competing artists and go towards the growing Art Battle for future artists and patrons. With competitions taking place every month, this is truly something everyone should experience!

Opus was well attended at Art Battle 63, held at the Vancouver FanClub. Four Opus employees participated in the battle. After the competition, we met with Bill Higginson, Director of Art Battle Vancouver, to talk about the competition, its impact on the art scene, and the importance of acquainting the public with an artist's working process.
