In this video, I want to give you a sort of guide to getting started in the IT world. The technology industry is one of the hottest industries on the job market right now, so it's completely logical that so many people are thinking about moving into or entering the technology industry straight out of high school or college.

And it's true that the tech industry offers a lot of career opportunities, but when you're at the very beginning of your career, it can also be very overwhelming. It's a broad industry with so many options, so many IT fields and jobs. There's so much to learn and often you don't even know where to start. It's also hard to know which IT field you're interested in and what you'll ultimately choose before you actually try things out and see for yourself what you enjoy the most. You might even have self-doubt and think that it's too late to change careers, or that there's so much to learn that you'll never be able to keep up with the people who have been in tech since early childhood.

And I understand all those concerns, the self-doubt, the time pressure, the uncertainty, not knowing where and how to start, etc. And that's why I want to use this video to show you different career paths in technology and give you some general pointers on how to get started.

The most popular IT jobs today, which will be even more in demand in the future, are: software engineering, DevOps engineering, cloud engineering, cybersecurity or security engineering, data engineering or general data-related jobs, and machine learning engineering.

And we will check for each IT field whether:
– it is an entry-level job
– what they actually do and what some of their tasks are
– and what skills you need to enter this particular field
– and some of the technologies you need to learn to do it.

Most of you probably want to get into one of these fields, but many of you may not know what exactly you want to choose right now, perhaps because they all sound equally exciting or overwhelming to you and therefore you have no idea which field is the better choice or which one is most interesting to you. That's absolutely fine, because that's exactly what I want to help you with in this video, so let's get started!
