When it comes to events and festivals, Scotland has few rivals in the world, but your trip would not be complete without experiencing one of our many unique and traditional events.

From drum dancing and log throwing to sampling delicious local produce, elaborate costumes, adrenaline-fuelled sports and ancient Scottish culture, the range of festivals is vast and offers opportunities for all the family.

Start the year with the world-famous Edinburgh Hogmanay fireworks display on the castle walls, or take part in themed events on 25 January to celebrate the life and work of Scotland's national poet Robert Burns at a Burns Supper.

Discover a whole different world of music including contemporary and modern beats, traditional Scottish tunes and stirring bands and musicians at festivals across the country. From warm musical atmospheres in Inverness and Dumfries & Galloway to vibrant and lavish performances on the Isle of Lewis and in the Scottish capital, to name but a few!

Don't miss the colorful performances, streets lined with extravagant shows, packed venues and many other exciting things to do at Edinburgh's summer festivals during the summer months.

If you're interested in sporting spectacles, look out for some world-renowned events where athletes compete for glory on Scotland's pitches, courses and rinks – including golf, tennis, rugby and badminton.

St Andrew's Day is a great excuse to enjoy haggis, turnips and potatoes. On November 30th, Scotland celebrates its national day in honour of its patron saint and offers fantastic events to showcase the best of Scottish culture and tradition.

Enjoy the incredible Christmas celebrations that bring the towns, villages and towns to life every winter. Enjoy delicious mince pies and mulled wine as you soak up the Christmas spirit around you.
