Are you 14 years or older and have a learning disability? Then have your health checked every year with a free health check with your doctor!

This short animated video explains why it's important to check in with your doctor, review your health status, and create a health action plan to help you stay healthy from head to toe.

According to statistics from the British National Health Service*, people with learning disabilities are far more likely to die at a young age from preventable and treatable diseases than the general population.

On average, a woman with a learning disability dies 27 years earlier than a woman without a learning disability.

For men with learning disabilities, life expectancy is reduced by 22 years compared to men without learning disabilities.

The My Life, My Rights, My Health, My Choice campaign was conceived by the Grapevine Health Team – a group of people with learning disabilities who want to teach their peers and the professionals who work with them how to stay healthy.

The campaign was run in collaboration with the NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups for Coventry, Rugby and Warwickshire and Coventry City Council.
