Looking for a job? I'll show you the 5 best ways to find a job in cyberspace:

I know many of you are struggling. I see your posts. I speak to some of you personally and know your struggles well. I have been through this myself. Sometimes it's the simple things that make a big difference. So today I'm going to tell you the top five ways to find a job in cyberspace.

1. LinkedIn Job Search – by simply searching for penetration tester, SOC analyst, GRC and other keywords, you can find millions of job openings. LinkedIn does a great job of finding the right fit.

2. CyberSN – You've probably heard of them. I've met many members of this team in person and I can tell you that they really do a great job when it comes to finding jobs that are a good fit for you. They've worked hard to break down the different types of cyber positions. Right now they have almost 200,000 cyber job openings on their website.

3. Indeed – If you've ever looked for a job, you've probably heard of Indeed. This is the largest job search engine in the world. A relatively simple platform that quickly inundates you with opportunities.

4. Dice – This site has been around forever. It focuses mainly on technical jobs and their platform and app are easy to use. Years ago, I landed several jobs through this platform.

Tip before I get to number 5: Job titles are a mess in cybersecurity. A security analyst can mean 20 different things. If you want to be more productive in your job search, search for your interests (e.g. Burp, Splunk, vulnerability management, disaster recovery, etc.). If you search for your interests and talents, you will stumble upon the right opportunities. Stop looking for titles.

5. Branding – Whether you like it or not, you are a salesperson. If you have ever had a job, you have had to sell your skills and abilities to the employer in order to get hired. Who are you? What do you stand for? What are your skills? What do you have to offer? Together, these things create a brand that is you. I saved this point for last because it really is the most important. Building your brand and networking will get you far more leads than any search engine.

Michael Jordan missed over 9,000 shots and lost over 300 games in his career, but we all know who he is. Stop being afraid to step on the court. I promise you, if you don't make a shot, you will never win a single game.
