A beginner’s guide to writing a blog post

Dr Matthew Philpott
(School of Advanced Study, University of London)

How to write a blog post? This session offers suggestions for writing and structuring posts, as well as ideas for promoting and getting the word out about your blog. This session is mainly about structuring a post so that it attracts maximum attention and makes it clear to readers at first glance what you are talking about.

The Social Scholar is a series of lunchtime seminars from the School of Advanced Study that explore the topic of social media. Each session includes a 20-minute presentation by an expert who already uses social media in the humanities, followed by a discussion and a question-and-answer session. In these sessions, we hope to learn together how to better use social media in a professional capacity and the difficulties and problems associated with doing so. The series looks at blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and other social media services.
