Who is Kelly Nishimoto:
http://www.kellynishimoto.com/

Born in the woods of Macon, Georgia, Kelly Nishimoto was the daughter of a Scots-Irish craftsman/chemist/musician and a Japanese-American jewelry designer. From a very young age, she was exposed to design and construction using a variety of materials. Her first wedding dress at age 13 was made from garbage bags and a hot glue gun. At age 19, after trading the laid-back country life in Georgia for the hectic nightlife of Miami's South Beach, Kelly designed her first collection, which included corsets, ball gowns, double-breasted jackets and handbags, all made from colorful Reynolds wrap cloth. The line was a huge success, earning her accolades such as "Top Ten Designers to Watch" from the Miami Herald.

After 5 years in the Miami fashion scene, Kelly ventured west in search of new inspiration. She found it as soon as she arrived in Los Angeles. When she noticed that all she saw in the clothing market was shabby chic and grunge, Kelly saw the perfect opportunity to bring back elegance, sophistication and femininity by reinterpreting one of her favorite pieces… the corset! With lush fabrics and a more comfortable structure, Kelly breathed new life into an age-old garment. They quickly made waves on red carpets across the country. Kelly Nishimoto corsets have graced the bodies of Marley Shelton, Rumor Moore, Gwen Stefani, Anastasia, Natasha Hendstridge, Jenna Jameson and yes… even Dave Navarro.

This self-taught designer didn't stop there. Kelly Nishimoto presented her Spring/Summer 2006 collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in March 2006. Feeling that fashion had no soul, she set out to create an entire collection using things that were missing from her own closet. Simple elegance is how she described the flowing collection that graced the runway. Her Fall/Winter/Christmas 2006 collection was a perfect blend of her heritage… Scottish plaids and Japanese printed silks. Fresh off the runway is her Spring/Summer 2007 collection, which she describes as "women in the bedroom."
