Here's why your indie platformer sucks and how to make a good platformer instead!

It all comes down to creating good 2D platformer controls! In this quick tutorial, I'll show you 5 game design tricks that will make your platform game feel much better!

Almost every successful platform game uses these tricks, so every indie game developer should know them. It will make your game a lot better!

It doesn't matter whether you create your platform game in Unity or another game engine like Game Maker, Godot or Construct 2. You can apply your game design knowledge there too.

This is not a programming tutorial, it's just a quick tutorial explaining how to create really good platform controls that your players will love!

Making a great platform game is certainly difficult, and it involves much more than just character movement. Level design is also extremely important.

However, by and large, it is still movement that determines the success or failure of your platform game.

I've seen these mistakes in game development so many times now, I just had to make a video about it so that we can hopefully have more quality indie platform games from now on!

What was your favorite from this little tutorial on platform game design? Let me know in the comments! 🙂

I hope your game is successful.
