This talk was given at a local TEDx event, which was held independently of the TED conferences. "As we grow up, we become less creative. Therefore, we need to relearn creativity, and fortunately, there are several ways to do this," says Dr. Balder Onarheim.

In everyday use, “creativity” is often used in connection with artistic creation. However, scientists agree that creativity is one of the most important human characteristics.

Balder is a PhD student and creativity researcher at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and founder of the Copenhagen Institute of NeuroCreativity – an institute dedicated to understanding and disseminating knowledge about the neurological basis of creativity.

"Creativity is not just about art – it is one of the most important human qualities. It is at the core of innovation and therefore not a superficial skill but a necessity for human survival," he says.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. A TEDx event combines TEDTalks videos and live speakers to inspire deep discussion and connection in a small group setting. These local, self-organized events are referred to as TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidelines for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
