You can unlock your general's traits through certain actions to further customize your physique.

Use a mix of different weapon types to maximize effectiveness on the battlefield. For example, clubs have low damage per second but weaken enemy armor faster, allowing other units to kill them faster.

Track the seasons on the campaign map to see their impact on your faction.

Before going into battle, explore the terrain to strategize your placement and environmental options.

Different types of terrain affect units differently. Select your unit and hover over the terrain type to learn more. Remember that weather changes such as rain can cause dirt to turn into mud during combat.

Forests offer a 40% chance to block missiles. Fight in them if your enemy has superior range.

By building outposts to shelter warriors, it is possible to recruit randomly selected units – even sea peoples that are not available anywhere else.

Use resource preferences to find the most suitable faction and the best exchange ratios.

You can check whether the individual exchange gift you give strengthens diplomatic relations or not.

Building way stations is a must for desert campaigns as they provide immunity to desert attrition in the region.

Use gossip in court to uncover plots against you.

Additionally, if you target a faction with lower legitimacy, the likelihood of a successful plot is higher.

Use sea lanes to avoid high seas losses and increase freedom of movement. Zoom out of the campaign map to see it better.

Learn about the use of your resources by checking the treasure menu or hovering over each resource.

Recruit and store troops in fortresses to improve the region's protection while reducing their upkeep.

Destroy enemy towers and fortresses to reduce the total number of settlement garrisons.

Your faction leader does not need upkeep. Consider leaving him in your capital to breed rather than putting him at risk of death on the battlefield. Use another general instead.

Your decision about what to do with enemy troops after the battle can affect your diplomatic standing with other factions at war with you or your allies. Choose wisely.
